All my life it seems that May 24th was the weekend the summer began, opening the cottage – going camping or just having an extra day to get the yard ready, drink some beer and have a BBQ.
Then, 18 years ago I entered the real estate profession.
Since then I don’t think I’ve had a May 24th weekend off. Not to complain, there are lots of jobs that require you to work when others play …. I just didn’t realize when I started that it would be that way. In fact, the biggest reason I chose real estate when I made the career change was I thought I’d have total control over my schedule. But things are always what they appear.
The real estate market is that way right now. Read the papers and look at the stats and the picture looks pretty grim. However, being in the trenches and seeing whats really happening I can tell you that it’s a lot more healthy than the number indicate. Over the last 24 months, the real estate market in Ontario has reverted to a more traditional pattern. One where sellers no longer have the advantage of strong demand and low supply. In fact in many areas it’s just the opposite – supply far out strips demand.
The result is that buyers today have the luxury of shopping. An sellers who are just “fishing” probably aren’t going to be successful.
At the end of the day … there’s still demand for good homes priced to show value.
Now more than ever …. sellers need clear – honest and complete information when pricing their homes for sale.
That’s what I do .. just let me know how I can help.
After all …. I’m not going anywhere ….
